Assim como nós brasileiros fazemos piadas de portugueses, os argentinos fazem piadas de espanhóis, e nessas, os espanhóis que são os bobos, e idiotas no contexto, o que se parece muito com as nossas gozações com portugueses. Na Argentina, e em outros países da América Latina, os espanhóis são chamados de "gallegos", que significa galego em castelhano, nativos da província Galícia na Espanha, acima de Portugal.
A maioria dos castelhanos que emigraram para América eram da Galicia. Os "gallegos" que chegaram à Argentina eram em maioria analfabetos e sem estudos, a região estava extremamente pobre, logo, se justifica a razão dos espanhóis serem os imbecis nas piadas. Como resposta na Espanha, também fazem anedotas de argentinos, o que levou a muita rivalidade estes dois países,como ocorreu com Brasil e Portugal.
Muitos argentinos são destratados na Espanha por causa destas gozações, e são discriminados e mal vistos na terra de Cervantes, dificultando muito a emigração de argentinos ao país.
